Volunteering

This job involves

Advising the public on issues such as welfare benefits, employment and debt
Writing letters and completing forms for and on behalf of clients
Consulting with specialist organisations on complex cases
Can be combined with other roles

Qualities you will need:

Very good verbal and written communication skills
Negotiation skills
The ability to understand complex information
Basic computer skills - the ability to learn some simple software packages
The willingness to undertake comprehensive training in the bureaux and elsewhere in the London area

Training and support:

Training will be in house
Support will always be available

What happens next?

We will arrange an informal meeting in the bureau where you will have the opportunity to meet other volunteers. If you decide to volunteer with us, we will arrange a simple assessment of literacy skills and give you printed information about our service. We will arrange a simple interview so that we can be sure that you understand our principles such as confidentiality and independence etc.
