Sutton Borough CABx Service does not just help clients to solve their problems, like all CABx, we take social policy action when we see something that needs changing. We take social policy action on both local and national issues. Sutton Borough CABx Service has been involved with campaign work on collection of Council Tax arrears by bailiffs and housing benefit rent restrictions for people under 25.
The CAB service has a history of successful social policy campaign work http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk - for example, the recent introduction of tenancy deposit protection is a direct result of lobbying by groups including the CABx Service. The CABx service also successfully campaigned for the introduction of non fee charging cash points in areas where people had difficulty accessing their money without a fee.
All of our campaigns are based on evidence collected by advisers. Advisers produce reports that we use for campaign work. You can help with this work by telling us about your experiences using our online social policy form. You can help even if you have not asked for advice about the issue - we are grateful for all contributions. We are particularly interested in hearing from you about the following issues:
- Income Support and mortgage interest payments
- tenancy deposits
- county court facilities
- access to NHS dentistry
- hospital travel costs scheme
- eviction of private sector tenants
- eviction of housing association tenants
- bailiffs and are people who are better off on benefits than in paid work.
The information that you send us will be used by the Citizens Advice Bureaux service to lobby for change.
